Privacy Policy
This explains exactly what Apex Car World does with data — in plain language, not legal padding. Last updated 25 July 2026.
The short version
Apex Car World is a car magazine run by one person. There are no visitor accounts, no newsletter, no advertising network and no tracking pixels. Visitor numbers are counted anonymously so I know whether anyone is reading. Nothing is sold or shared with data brokers.
What is collected when you visit
An anonymous visitor number. Your browser is given a random string (for example k3f9x2b8) and stores it locally. It contains no name, email, or account information, and it is not linked to you as a person — it exists so that one reader opening five pages counts as one visitor rather than five.
Which pages were opened, and the country they were opened from. The country is a two-letter code (GB, US, ES) provided by the hosting platform. Your IP address is never stored.
That is the entire visitor record: a random number, a page address, a country and a date.
What is stored in your browser
Small values kept on your own device, not cookies sent to advertisers:
apex.vid — the random visitor number described above.
apex.self — set only if you sign into the private admin area, so my own visits are excluded from the statistics.
apex.oath — remembers that you signed the Apex Covenant, so you are not asked twice.
Clearing your browser data removes all of them. The site continues to work normally without them.
Information you choose to give
The only place the site asks for anything is the Apex Covenant, where a collaborator can add their name. That name is shown as a public record of the pledge. Do not enter a name you would not want displayed. If you want yours removed, email me and it is gone.
Emailing me through the contact page obviously shares your email address with me. I use it to reply, and nothing else.
Other services involved
Vercel hosts the site and provides basic web analytics (page views, referring sites, broad locations). Vercel receives your IP address as part of normally serving the page, as any web host must.
Upstash stores the anonymous counts described above.
Wikipedia and Wikimedia supply car photography and background text.
eBay — some links to collectibles are affiliate links, meaning I may earn a small commission if you buy something after clicking. It costs you nothing extra. Following such a link takes you to eBay, where their privacy policy applies, not this one.
Social media publishing
The private admin area can publish videos to Apex Car World's own YouTube, TikTok and Instagram accounts. Those connections authorise posting to my own accounts only. No visitor data is involved, nothing is read from anyone else's account, and the access keys are stored privately on the server, never shown in a browser.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and nothing here is knowingly collected from them.
Your rights
Because visits are anonymous, there is normally no personal record of you to retrieve or delete. Where there is something — a name on the Covenant, or an email you sent me — you can ask to see it or have it deleted, and I will do it. Depending on where you live (for example the UK and EU under GDPR, or California under CCPA) you may have a formal right to this. You are welcome to it either way.
Visitor statistics are kept for about 90 days and then expire automatically.
Changes
If how data is handled changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top is updated.
